Hershey Fun

I went to the Grand Ascent (sounds too religious) hill climb and the Elegance concours at Hershey this past weekend. Good times, except for the part about Friday which was pretty much a total washout. Woodstock With Wheels, it was. Saturday was terrific, cool and dry, except for the hold-over mud from the day before.

My favorite little Cooper was back this year, with it's mouse-that-roared 500 cc Norton motorcycle engine. What is it that's so appealing about this little bucket? Perhaps its David-like pluck, going up against cars with many times the horsepower, I think it's more elemental than that. I think it's the "fireworks effect." There's something primal in the presence of loud noises, especially after we determine that they can do us no harm.
